What is 3D Printing (Other)?

3D Printing - Other Find Providers For 3D Printing (Other)

There are many other kinds of 3D printing, such as ProJet and Laminated Object Manufacturing.
Other Technologies:

This article mentions just a couple of the less-popular processes. New processes are designed every year though.

ProJet
Similar to PolyJet printers, ProJet printers are made by 3D Systems and use Multi-Jet-Modeling Technology to deposit thin layers of ultra-violet curable acrylic plastic.

Laminated Object Manufacturing
This process, originally developed by Helisys Inc., pulls in sheets of raw plastic, paper, or metal, then cuts them into shape using a laser or knife and then glues them together. After many layers are stacked, the final model is finished.

Costs
Example quotes for a 2-inch sphere:
Process Qty 1 Qty 10
SLA $376 each $109 each
SLS $501 each $121 each
FDM $182 each $154 each
PolyJet $479 each $139 each
Machined Plastic $458 each $139 each
Urethane Castings N/A $120 each
So, you can see how volume discounts can be a big factor, especially for processes that are slow in the vertical direction.
